WORLD STABILITY

Iran's suspected aim to develop nuclear weapons could pose a ‘very serious threat to world stability and peace’, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Tuesday. Reiterating angry comments he made last month after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for Israel to be ‘wiped off the map’, Blair said there was a ‘real risk’ that Tehran's stance could derail the Non-Proliferation Treaty. ‘If Iran was to develop nuclear weapons capability then I think it would pose a very serious threat to world stability and peace,’ he told a quarterly with parliamentary committee chairmen.
